Products and Services
Enbridge introduced energy efficiency and conservation initiatives under the direction of the province’s energy regulator, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), in 1995. Since then, the Company’s Demand Side Management (DSM) programs have helped consumers reduce their energy consumption and created a variety of measured and unmeasured benefits for society such as reduced energy bills, economic stimulus, environmental benefits, and benefits specific to low income consumers.
Enbridge’s DSM programs are designed with active stakeholder involvement and are funded through OEB approved Enbridge Gas Distribution rates. Currently, Enbridge is pleased to offer DSM programming to its residential, commercial and industrial customers through the OEB approved 2015-2020 Multi-Year DSM Plan.
Over the last 20 years, Enbridge’s energy efficiency programs have collectively reduced customer consumption by 10.3 billion cubic metres of natural gas, roughly enough natural gas savings to serve nearly 4.3 million homes for one year. These savings are the equivalent of a reduction of 19.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, roughly equal to removing 3.8 million cars from the road for one year.
